In Memory of those who died in the terrorist attacks
on the World Trade Towers in New York
September 11, 2001
As a dark cloud billows over our heads,
“Many have died”, so the newscaster said.
Another attack took place against freedom and land.
High towers were crumbled, leaving ashes and sand.
And as the world watches this terrorist disgrace,
will the dust settle with peace still in place?
Our choices now could change life in our land.
Should we handle this justice with weapons in hand?
Did we strike first, or at the end?
What are we solving? What should we defend?
Should we step back to recall events of the past?
Who started this war and will it be the last?
As the clouds hang heavy over our heads,
we are reminded of humans, not living, now dead.
As anger prevails and everything starts to cease,
Who is defending and protecting world peace?
If we strike back with violent, brute force,
are we taking the same road, are they directing our course?
Are we following their lead down a path of hatred and shame?
Are we different than they, or are we really the same?
In this dark tunnel we want to do down?
Can we make different choices and turn it around?
Is there another way, so the fighting can cease?
Will the dust finally settle? Will we find world peace?
