BethAnne,
I read the title and found myself singing Do You Believe in Magic by the Lovin' Spoonful.
I agree that we still believe in superstitions and illusions. We believe in incantations and slight of hand.
"Oh, no we don't", we would say, thinking of top hat, wand and rabbit.
Yet, we do when the attire is a business professional or vestments.
Don't we also in our own personal lives?
We believe in imaginary money. We believe we can cover something and it will disappear.
Hmmm there is likely a sermon found here.

Thanks BA
We believe that things didn't happen if nobody sees us.
We believe that the END justifies the Means
Good thoughtful piece.
