What ever happened to ''Charity''?

Do we love our neighbour as ourselves? Is that a ''Pollyanna'' idea or is it the only way we will survive as a species?

I tend to think that it is the only way we will survive. If we love our neighbour we will drive carefully and not succumb to road rage. If we love our neighbour we will recognise his right to worship differently or not at all, to dress differently (I won''t add ''or not at all'', considering our climate), live his life out in harmony and respect. We will smile at the grocery clerk when we have been waiting in line for 20 minutes, we will speak to the stranger in the pew, even if we are a stranger there ourself. We will try to make our contact with those around us a pleasure to them and through that attitude a pleasure to us.

There must be another approach that can display a loving concern for the people in conflict around the world other than insisting that our way is the only way. We can get their attention by force but we can''t make real improvemnt in their lives by force, only by example.

Do we need to "love" our neighbour or merely respect them and their differences. There are people I do not love, love is a very powerful word, but i certainly respect them and their differences.

*Peace be with you Beverly*

If we LOVE unconditionally, Compassionately with Humility of Heart! There would be no barriers between us. No denominational divides. Just the Family of Believers. If we all exemplfied the LOVE Christ spoke of in his words to the Disciples during the last supper. There would be no wars, no homelessness, no Hunger or Poverty and no discrimination of any form.

I wrote in another post about this verse. "Love one another as I have Loved you. The world will know you are my Disciples if you have Love one for another." in that discussion I shared that I believe that Jesus meant that statement for not only the body of believers but also for non-believers. That if we truely lived our lives with that kind of Love We would Transform the world.

Thank You for your wonderful Post. It reaffirms that I must continue to walk in that very Unconditional, Compassionate Love in Humility.

*Go in Peace*
