Hair - It's Moving Right Along

23 rehearsals left.

3 rehearsals a week.

11 songs and 2 lines to be memorized for Nov. 30th.

Too many nights short on sleep.

...but it's going well.  Last night we blocked/moved the final scene of Act I, which ends (if any of you know the play) with the naked scene.  We are -not- going naked, but we are definitely pretending to.  A scrim (dark screening) will come down and turn us into silhouettes.  I will be very much in love with the character of Sheila Franklin at that point, and she will be peeling my clothes off of me.  Well, making it look like it, anyway.  You have no idea how much fun it is.

This is a great show.  I didn't know a thing about it (other than the hippie part) when I started, and the themes and I are connecting so readily.  This play gives you a chance to put your own life and inhibitions under the microscope and wonder what really means so much to you.  It emphasizes passion and love, and makes you question pride and orthodoxy.  It of course helps that my director is trying his damnedest to piss people off.  He wants to make them squirm, I can see it.

Heyyyyy.... I was just wondering about you and how the play is coming. Glad you're into it!! I like the way they are handling the naked part.

Hope all is well. It seems like a long time since I've seen your blog and was missing you.

Peace

Dave
