A Pentecost Communion Liturgy

Pentecost is this upcoming Sunday (May 27).  I always enjoy our celebration of it, especially here at Forest Hill United where we celebrate with lots of Holy Spirit hymns and communion.

Maritime Conference has been sending out Lenten e-mails for young families.  I was asked to write the one for the second week.  Here it is:

Right before Advent, Maritime Conference put out its latest edition of their e-newsletter.  I had an article in there.  I share it with you here.

On Monday, November 21, I offered the first session of Bad Girls of the Bible, an occasional Bible Study that will look at a different woman each time. This time, we focused on Eve, the first woman. I obviously can't share the Bible study with you here as it was wonderfully interactive with rich conversation. But I thought that I would write something up based on the notes I used to guide the discussion.

A wise friend e-mailed me this story this morning, saying that it helped her believe that there is hope for the church after all.  What are the cows that we cling to in our church that really should be turfed over a cliff?  Scary but freeing.  I did not write this and the author is unknown.

For this past Sunday, I had to come up with something quick for sermon-time.  The difference from every other week was that I wasn't going to be leading worship.  It was my first day of vacation and the person who was scheduled to do pulpit supply didn't pan out.  So, I wrote this short reflection for a lay person to read.  I thought I would share it with you.  I made great use of James Taylor's E

On Saturday, May 14, we held our first Worship for Wee Ones at Forest Hill United.  With great enthusiasm from those present, we had a wonderful worship experience for the youngest in our community.
