Truth or Fantasy?

Truth or Fantasy?  2013 08 18 Jer 23:15-32

A mother asked her son what he learned in Sunday School.  He said that Moses led the Israelites on a pontoon bridge across the Red Sea while God sent fighter aircraft to stop the Egyptian soldiers from attacking them.  She was surprised and asked if that was really what he was taught.  He said, "No, but if I told you what she said, you wouldn't believe me."

Neighbours July 14, 2013

My story for this Sunday was on the Platinum Rule.  Mary loved strawberries, but her friend John was allergic to strawberries.  They were bringing snacks for a trip, and strawberries were in season, and were absolutely delicious.  Mary decided to bring grapes, because takig something John could eat was more important to her than taking what she loved.  The Platinum Rule is loving our neighbour as they need to be loved, not treating someone as we want to be treated.  My message was as follows.

Neighbours July 14, 2013; Luke 10:25-37

Disruptive Healing June 23 2013

Luke 8:16-39

After an operation for carpal tunnel, Jane asked her doctor if she would be able to play the piano.  "Of course you will be able to", he said.

"That's great," she said, “because I never could before.”

Trinity Sunday May 26, 2013

Trinity Sunday, May 26, 2013; Proverbs 8:1-4,22-31

Here is a little story about Jesus.  Jesus asked his disciples who they thought he was.

They replied, "You are the eschatological manifestation of the ground of our being, the kerygma of which we find the ultimate meaning of our interpersonal relationships."

And Jesus said, "What?"

2013 05 12 Mother's Day: Filled with Hope (selections from Rev 21 and 22; Ps 97)

When a woman gets married, she hopes to change her husband.  When a man gets married, he hopes his wife will never change.  And they are both wrong.

My draft of the message for Sunday.

Palm Sunday: Passionate Joy Luke 19:28-40 2013 03 24

A cartoon in the Observer a few years ago showed Jesus riding a colt and a donkey, and muttering.  "The things I do to fulfill prophecy."
