Minutes for Mission - July 14: Children Protecting Children

Children are the most vulnerable members of any society. Care for children is an important part of our faith and of our mission and ministry as a church. Hear now the story of the work being done in Kenya so that children can help children.

Youth to youth—that’s the strength of our global partner Kenya Alliance for the Advancement of Children’s Rights. Working through a network of Child Rights Clubs and child ambassadors, this partner’s vision is a society in which every child is respected and protected from discrimination, neglect, cruelty, and exploitation.

To accomplish this goal the organization has established an ambitious plan focused on training youth leaders to reach out to others and help children and youth grow into thoughtful adults committed to peace. Child ambassadors offer other children friendship and help.

Operating for more than 23 years, Kenya Alliance for the Advancement of Children’s Rights doesn’t back down from tough issues. The group works with children at high risk and in need of special protection, including street children and orphans. Responding to wide-scale violence after the Kenyan elections in 2007, it is training leaders and groups to manage conflict and build communities of peace during election times.

With financial help from partners like the United Church, this partner continues to make a difference in the lives of children across Kenya.

Every gift to the church’s mission and service is used wisely and helps transform lives. Please continue to give generously - visit the M&S donation page.
