Minutes for Mission - November 24: Would You Bake Pies for M&S?

Sue Lahey is the M&S Enthusiast for the Lower Musquodoboit Pastoral Charge in Nova Scotia, but she’s not the only person committed to mission and service in her congregation. Listen to Sue’s story about how she has witnessed support given to our mission and service.

Rose Porter helps collect recyclables for our congregation’s M&S drive. To increase our money intake she approached a family member and told him that for every 45-gallon barrel of recyclables he brought her she would make him a pie.

How many of you would bake pies to get recyclables? Rose has a friend take her to her cousin’s place each time he gets enough recyclables so she can pick them up and drop off his pie.

Rose has become so committed to our recycle program that she asks her friend, who drives her to church, to stop every time she sees a bottle or can in the ditch. She is one of the greatest contributors to the cause in the pastoral charge. By picking recyclables out of ditches, she is also contributing to keeping God’s wonderful Creation beautiful.

As an M&S Enthusiast, I feel that Rose needs a big pat on the back for her efforts. It is great when we see someone put the type of effort into fundraising that Rose Porter does. She knows our goal can be reached one pop can at a time!

Every gift to the church’s mission and service is used wisely and helps transform lives. Please continue to give generously - visit the Mission and Service donation page.
