What great news! How can more congregations get involved in making better choices for the environment? Is there a central environment committee for the United Church?
Here’s some help for readers looking to go green. These are stories about the residents of Brooklin, Ontario who have made green choices. The articles cover a solar water heater, geothermal heating and cooling, and an on demand water heater.

I would like to celebrate Earth Week by finding full-time employment closer to home. For the past six years I have commuted 120 kms (out and back) to serve a part-time position. If you know of a congregation in the GTA that wants to be environmentally conscious, then how about calling a full-time experienced pastor who lives in Toronto? I know that ministry positions are scarce, but I would love to celebrate by giving up a very long drive to work.

On the question of a 'central environment committee' of The United Church of Canada, I commend to you the work of our Justice Global and Ecumenical Relations Committee and those with whom we work ecumenically - KAIROS - and Greening Sacred Spaces (GSS) . The First St. Andrews folks also mentioned GSS in their news release. You can follow the links on the Moderator's page: www.united-church.ca/moderator
KAIROS, by the way has great suggestions for this Saturday's Earth Hour as well. You can check those out at www.kairoscanada.org

At Knox United here in Calgary we are trying to do our little part:
1. In the second year of a community supported agriculture project
2. Hosting Awakening the Dreamer Symposia (next one May 1st)
3. Launched three new workshops in The Forum on Ecological Spirituality and Evolutionary Cosmology
If you're in the Calgary area check us out at www.knoxunited.ab.ca and www.knoxcentre.ca
Keep up the good work, Mardi!
