Communion Liturgy

Communion Liturgy

Celebrant: May God be with you.
People: And also with you.
Celebrant: Lift up your hearts.
People: We give our hearts to God, and to each other.
Celebrant: Let us celebrate our love for God.
People: As we celebrate God's Love for us.

Celebrant: Heart of the universe, giver of all good gifts, life who loves into being, we are your lovers, you people, who come together to celebrate your life with us. Be with us, join with us, as we lift our voices, giving thanks and sayings.

People: God of many names, we praise and bless you for the gift of love and for your abiding love which is the source of all blessing.

Celebrant: We thank you for your compassion which we have discovered in the giving of the law, the exodus, in the word of the prophets. We rejoice that you have called men and women throughout history to a special relationship with you. Thanks to you, for we see this way in the person of Jesus who has become for us the Christ. We give you thanks, God our creator.
People: Holy, holy, holy Lord
God of power and might
Heaven and Earth are full of your glory
Hosanna in the Highest.

Celebrant: Out of love you called us into being, called us to share the wonders of creation with you, gave us your power to love and to create, the gift of your desire and your imagination.

Touch us and restore our hearts. You give us images of life shared and broken. Wheat fields waiting for transformation. Grape vines hanging lush in the hot sun. You speak of bread and wine. Life given and received. Therefore, loving God, we rejoice in the gift of your grace, remembering Jesus' life and death, proclaiming his resurrection, waiting in hope for Christ's coming again. Grant that in praise and thanksgiving, we may so offer ourselves to you that our lives may proclaim the mystery of faith:

Congregation: Christ has died.
Christ is risen.
Christ will come again. (# 943 in VU)

Celebrant: Blessed are you, Creator of the universe.
Through your goodness we have this bread to offer, which earth gives and human hands have made. May it be for us the Bread of Life. Thanks be to God.

Celebrant: Blessed are you, O God, Creator of the universe.
Through your goodness we have this wine to offer, fruit of the vine and work of human hands. May it be for us Spiritual drink. Thanks be to God.

That's very nice and would be something I would use. I don't like the ones printed in the service books and use prayers that my husband wrote. The lovers part made me blush a little though.

Thanks - it works if you blush (smile) I like Peter's work too.

The one thing not written but said is in the breaking of the bread = I say something like the night Jesus -- we are his friends and followers - take this bread of hope and share the spirit of God... never the same each time - this the short version of longer ones - will email any to those who want.
