I just found this link and thought it should be given publicity. Do we (Canadians) have any complicity? Judge for yourself!

Thanksgiving, like Christmas, New year and any number of specially dedicated days, is celebrated by North Americans to remind them that many events and occasions during the past year are worth being grateful for. The procedure is simple. We start preparing for the event by makinng sure that friends and family are together and cook up a storm. Gratitude seems to always go together with good company and lots of well prepared food. Once these are together we focus our minds and remember the events and "things" we had cause to be grateful for or to celebrate --- and we give thanks.
Oct 30 - 08 we will be visited by past moderator Bill Phipps and his wife Carolyn Pogue. They are here at our invitation to run workshops for interested parties in Thunder Bay, On.
