You dont have to be a scientist to know that the Sun is our planet's best source of energy, and the perfect fuel for life on Earth. Properly harvesting this energy will change the world.

 

Did you know that almost all forms of commercial energy on planet Earth are derived from the sun? What I'm trying to say is that all fossil fuel extracted from the ground today was a living organism millions of years ago and it soaked up the sunlight. So coal, oil and natural gas are actually products of the sun; so is tidal power and wind power and even hydro electric dams - only geothermal power is not dervied from the Sun's energy.

 

I believe it was Buckminster Fuller that first said the people of planet Earth are enjoying a fossil fuel trust fund. There will be a lot of problems if we are still dependent on fossil fuel energy when it becomes harder and harder to find and use,

when it finally runs out...

 

Oil, gas and coal and even firewood have inside them the our sun's energy. The power has been encapsulated and preserved, indeed it has been compounded into energy rich hydrocarbons which we combust to drive pistons or boil water to turn steam turbines. Very primative energy recovery mechanisms by all accounts, yet most cost effective

 

Solar power is going to change everything and that's because batteries are getting better more affordable everyday, and because solar panels are being constructed hand over fist and will soon be erected on every white flat roof in Ontario, and then all across Canada.

Suddenly everyday people will be generating power and it will soon follow that more and more cars and households will become energy self sufficient.

 

Portable solar power is even more exciting because it replaces all manner of two cycle engines, saws and lawnmowers. The next generation of small engines will be battery operated. These new designs are much quieter and safer when powered with rechargable batteries.

The demand for foreign oil will finally be satiated and there will be peace in the Holy Land and all across the Middle East. The oil producing Arab states will have to sell their now cheap oil to the developing world because North America and Europe will only buy a small amount for plastics and medicine etc Solar power may finally end North American dependence on foreign oil.

Solar power is limitless, free and clean, while coal, oil, and natural gas are hard on the climate, and so unequally distributed worldwide. The revolution will take us straight to the energy source that made fossil fuels. In a few sunny places where electric rates are high, like Italy and Hawaii, solar energy is already on the verge of being competitive.
