It is the duty of the treasurer to be a watchdog over all aspects of financial management, working closely with other members of Council to safeguard the organization’s finances.


Tasks and Duties:


  • General financial oversight
  • Funding, fundraising and sales 
  • Financial planning and budgeting
  • Financial reporting
  • Banking, book keeping and record keeping 
  • Control of fixed assets and stock
  • Chair finance team (see below)
  • Sit on, and report to, Council


Finance team


  • The finance team will consist of the Treasurer, an admin or moderator, and the second individual with signing authority.
  • The Treasurer will normally chair and give leadership to the finance team.
  • The finance team will develop processes which follow best practices to ensure segregation of duties and transparency.
  • The finance team, through the Treasurer, will make monthly reports to Council on the financial status of Wondercafe2




Though most transactions can be done online, it is probable that physical presence will be required to setup or transfer an account.  It is recommended that the signing officers and the bank be selected from the Greater Toronto Area to facilitate signing of documents and transition to new finance representatives.
