Is the bible meant to be taken literally? So many events from the bible have been proven wrong that I find it hard to believe any of it. How can one believe something when we know that so much of it is wrong? Some say many of these are meant to be taken metaphorically? Does this mean God is a metaphor?
Just a thought!
i'm in the mood to rant, and so i shall.
i was reading the bible recently, as it has become a regular thing for me. i love the way it is written, and it deffinitely has some incredibly powerful incite as to how to live your life. however, i can't help but notice how many times it contradicts itself.
now, i realize that the bible doesn't have one author, and that all the views aren't all going to be the same. however, when in one chapter it tells you one view, and in another it tells you the opposite, i find it rather ridiculous.
Here's a fun little quiz for those who claim to follow the bible (don't cheat - god will know).

So my boyfriend and I are considering joining a church but we would like to buy a bible before we start attending. Through my searches I've found that finding the right one is darned near impossible.
So which bible do you use and why?
Just to get into blogging mood again, I decided to share some verses from my favourite book that help me get through my day, and make it more interesting.

How literal is the Bible meant to be interpreted? Is symbolism used, or is it Just as it was, Was anything lost in translation? Because of the times, Where men owned the women and they had no rights, is that why woman are mostly cast negatively. (Eve, Mary Magdalene)
I have three bibles that I call my very own. The women's devotional bible (number one. There is a number two out now.) I was given this when I gave my life to the Lord as an adult. It is NIV
For my 35th I got the "women of destiny" bible. (I chose that one myself.) New King james
Last Christmas I was online shopping with either Chapters or Amazon.ca and added a bible to the order for myself. I wanted one that was smaller and more durable. This is the NIV too I think.
It is leather with a closure and fits perfectly in my purse.
I'm starting to think that "Good News" needs an upgrade - to "BetterNews".
What's BetterNews?
It would be like the Bible, with some additions and some deletions
I would add stories from other cultures, such as:
I would avoid stories in the Bible (and other sources above) that contain messages of destruction, including:
