I received a report to day from a museum I was connected with in Montreal, the Donald Stewart Museum. It is a museum in an old fort. It was founded almost entirely by English-speaking Quebeckers, supported by them, and still depends heavily on the support of English-speaking Quebeckers.
Picture a bunch of meeting rooms in a corporate space.
Rather than being named numerically, they are named in "themes".
One area names them after tropical islands, another after cities in Europe, a third names them after football coaches, a fourth on US presidents.
now, say you are gay / lesbian, and you happen to know that the one room is named after an extremely homophobic man. This man was so offensive that CBS cancelled his contract .
As a society, are we too intolerant? Or do we tolerate too much? In some areas, tolerance is definitely lacking. But in others, there is far too much of it.
Agree / Disagree?
Comments?
Yes, you in the back ...
I was reading an article written by a Prop 8 protester who described some of the counter-protester's signs.
One of the signs said "“GOD DOES NOT LOVE YOU JUST THE WAY YOU ARE.” Why would somebody be holding a sign that said that? Are they a Christian?
