New Church!

Update time!

So I started to attend a new church, and regularly. This is the third Sunday in a row I've gone (the previous record was like once in a row).

It's urban, gay affirming, pretty large and uses projector screens for following along. There's a lot of people my age (20-30) in the choir. By my second visit everyone knew my name.

Here's the streetview:

Done This before But......

complaints, dissatisfaction, to do or not to do. What would you like your 60 minutes in church to be like from start to finish.?

"Smells Like...

...church."

This was the tag line on an EBay commercial that I saw last night advertising buying from EBay for your Christmas gifts.  The 20-something man was trying to convince those in the older demographic to stop making handmade gifts because no one likes them anyway...

Messing up

I am normally a rather efficient person.  I can juggle multiple items, deliver to multiple areas, and just provide reasonable stuff.  I am reasonably responsive to emails.

The last few months, in fact, since August have been a struggle at work. Without going into specifics this is about a -million dollar project that is out of control and is now a multimillion dollar project.

Food and faith

If anyone has the occasion to work in a church or just hang out in a church, food is always available. if there is a meeting - there is food. If there is any kind of gathering - there is food. There is coffee and something after church. There are pot lucks and other hosted meals. There is something to eat - always- in the church fridge.

What is our preoccupation with food?

If you look around a Presbytery and Conference Annual Meeting, there are many overweight folk. Is this because of the availability of food in the church?

Church - Theatre

A church staff once described Worship to me as Theatre. For one hour, we ( staff) perform. We sing ( as in concert performing), we use symbols ( to visually enhance the service.)

Churches that flourish are the ones who have good theatre skills. The ones that don't would be given a 2 or 3 on the 1 - 10 scale.

I would hope that church is more than this. What do you think?
