I have recently met a young man of 19 or so. He is dating the sixteen year old daughter of some acquaintances of mine. He also boards with them, and it is agreed the daughter will move in with h im when she is seventeen and finishes high school. He is extremely devout in ways I  find strange. At first, I wrote it off as extreme fundamentalism.

I have been watching the God in America series on PBS.

It is absolutely jaw dropping and it makes me weep sometimes.

I am really questioning society's understanding and application of the concept of freedom and liberty.

As Christians ....what do these words mean to you?

Just out of curiousity, what should a person do if they go to a specific denomination (such as the United Church) and then realize that they no longer fit in, in the church? As a Christian, I have tried my best to listen to and heed the call of God in my life... for a number of years, it has felt like God is calling me to a different denomination altogether, as I don't feel I belong at the United Church. My theological and spiritual views are likely too "right-wing" for the people in my congregation, and I no longer find the worship to be spiritually enriching for me.

The deadline for submitting comments on simplifying The United Church of Canada’s processes is October 1. The goal of this consultation is to make the church’s procedures and practices less complex and free people to live out their faith more effectively. As part of this work, The Manual will be shortened and made more user-friendly to reflect these simplified processes.
