I have been dating a guy for just over 9 months. Things were very serious when we first started dating. We both just knew we wanted to be together for a long time and we both discussed our intention for dating each other is marriage or to be life partners. We have similar goals and values.
In the great scheme of things, why does it matter if we worship a Supreme Being who we name differently?
Why does it matter if we translate literally, or not?
Why does it matter if we worship differently with different traditions, prayers and hymns?
Why does it matter if we are different in our faiths?
Why does it matter?
Does it matter if Mary was a virgin?
Does it matter if the Christ story differs for different people?
Does it matter if people believe in a physical, spiritual ressurrection or no ressurection at all?
Does it matter if Jesus is Son of God or God's presence in the world?
Does it matter and should we all get our tails in a knot?
If it matters, why?
i had a thought the other day when having another profound conversation with my mother. :)
why are there different religions? why are there different denominations? why are we, as a human race, separated into these sects of faith?
Do you care if I am Hindi, Protestant, Catholic, Jew or gentile?
Does it make a difference in your life if I go to a church, a temple or a Mosque?
Does it affect you if I am non religious? Does it make a difference in your life?
As a Christian I am given this "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind and you shall love your neighbour as yourself"
A poster on another thread has said that this thread would be helpful for him. He hesitated because he thought so many UCCAN posters might not respond ( or I think that is what he meant)
So here is your chance to tell everyone how you would like to see your service reformed or maybe you don't.
Let's talk about the order, the sermon, time with children, music, prayers - liturgy in generaal.
If you feel comfortable with out naming, talk about your church in particular.
