I came across this thought provoking article that certainly deserves discussion on this forum.
I have posted my message for next Sunday in a blog. I have several starting points including the Book of Ruth for a message on the eventual failure of the use of violence and love as leading the way to what persists.

I saw a friend who told me she is afraid of being pregnant.. afraid of the pain all that will bring up for her and yet doesnt want the medication to hold the pain at bay... It made me think of thiis poem I wrote after my daughter was born. There are so many things I fear and fear tries to hold me back. But I also remember a quote from the Starhawk book, The Fifth Sacred Thing, "Where there is fear, there is power." That was my experience too... So this is for you, friend...

In various messages, I have been describing Mary’s turning from fear toward joy as a theme of Advent.
There is a thread in R&F about fear being the basis of religion. Graeme alluded to keeping children safe without intstilling unreasonable fear or prejudice in them. I didn't want to hijack that thread so I'm posting some concerns and questions relating to fear and children here.
