Around my house critisizing this movie is absolutely taboo. But I went to see it last night with my partner and 2 teen daughters and was really appalled. I am currently in a Lenton study group called 12 steps to compassion so maybe I am more sensitive than normal, but it really made me uncomfortable to watch as entertainment a movie where young people were selected to kill each other and then went ahead in a perversion of our reality TV shows, to in fact kill each other. It felt akin to snuff movies. Though we all knew that no teenagers had actually been killed in the making do this movie
I went to see The King's Speech last night.
Thoroughly enjoyed it.
Oh my my my.
Last night I saw an ad for the new "Saw" movie (horror slasher type series of flicks) and they actually opened the ad with
WWJD
And then asked, "What would Jigsaw do?"
Jigsaw being the psychotic killer, of course. Now I'm used to WWJD referring to Jesus, but usually I don't see the acronym "out there" in the wider culture.
Last night, my oldest son & I went to see Passchandaele.
I recommend it, though I will warn re sex, violence & language...the typical things.
I find it funny, we warn about sex regardless of the type of sex, even though it is the most natural of our actions as humans, and something we hope our grown children find in a solid relationship
