The "God of the Bible"

This topic/phrase came up during a profound theological discussion I was having with Chasen...and I was reading some science guy who said there is one fundiment of the Universe: the evident desire for the increase of complexity...

From a  An infinitly small packet of energy...

strings, to  hydrogen , more atoms, things, life, consciousness, evolution in general

What does this mean to you. i don't know where the quote comes from.

"God's in his heaven; All's right with the world"

Journey into the United Church: Saying "Uncle" to God

I have been Asked to do many impossible things for God over the last nine years.  Now that He has reduced me to zero, I can't say that I'm 'Asked' to do one more thing.  It's like I haven't been Given an option.

My dad just had a second heart attack in as many months.  All the doctors could say is that his heart is 'tired.'  At 87 years old, the body is just worn out.  He is a minister.  Now his son begins to enter the process to become one.  The doctors asked my mother about 'do not resuscitate' orders.'

God - Silly Question

When we think about Jesus, be he fully hman or fully divine, or fully human and divine, does anyone think God changed after the birth and death of Jesus?

Silly question, I know, but I had a wondering.

If so, how?

If not, why not?

So what does your  God require of you/us? Is it right belief or  right actions? or both. What kind of belief and what kind of actions?

Images of Faith

I often find that images, artwork, photos etc will capture something that words cannot.  Are there images that speak to you of your faith - that speak without the aid of words?  I'm curious to see if we can maintain spirit filled thread without words or commentary...

Would the discovery of life on other planets affect your faith?

Just read this article on the CBC news website at http://www.cbc.ca/technology/story/2010/01/08/tech-space-earth-like-planets.html

From the article "Astronomers say they are on the verge of finding planets like Earth orbiting other stars, a key step in determining if we are alone in the universe."

My question is, if we are not alone in the universe, does that in any way affect your faith or belief in God?

Comparing clay to humans

I was watching an online service on Sunday @ liveonline.healingplacechurch.org and the sermon was about humans being the clay and God molding us.

As the Pastor (Reverend) was talking I thought about comparing clay to humans and wondered if by stating we are like clay does that belittle human's freewill?

Does it state that we, as human, have no freewill as clay wouldn't have freewill to chose to be molded?

Just a random question

Can Atheists accept God?

Can an Atheist accept the value of God?

I am an atheist, however, I believe in the value for those who believe in God existing.  I am wondering if that value, through poetic understanding of this religious icon, can be learned in a way Atheists would accept it.  This is a new thought I had which I am only recently undertaking, but I thought it might be nice to get other atheist's perspectives on it.
