In rebellion against my generations of the most severe Scots Presbyterians, I send you this statement from the Pope. I wish our side had made a statement like this.

I intend to send copies in my blog fo our local clergy who write the wimpiest sermonettes for the Faith page of our local newspaper.
I am attempting to figure out what is going on and I have just looked up politic in the dictionary. .......from Greek polis 'city'.
Dictionary goes on to mention the phrase 'play politics' which means to act for personal gain rather than politics.
As I go about my day I will be looking to see to what extent play politics is getting the upper hand.
If we had enough money to eat, have a roof over our heads, enough for education, medical insurance - in other words a comfortable life, why do we as a culture feel that we have to have money in the bank, investments etc etc.
Is it written somewhere that we have to leave an inheritance to our children?
If making money doesnt make us happy because we are forever running, what is the point
What does Jesus say about lots of money?
No long quotes please.
This baffles me.
Jae states on abomination thread that "only Christians have the Holy Spirit"
It was my assumption( but I might be wrong) that the biggest charactaristic of a Christian is "To Love Neighbour". If this is so, why would we want to hoard to ourselves things like"Holy Spirit". Why wouldnt we want to expect neighbours to have it to no matter their religious stripe? Why would be want to display greed, jealousy instead?
Making any sense. Talk!!!!!!!
Mr. Coyne warns us that the baby boomers can expect cuts in their old age pensions. Workers at a factory are locked out even as the factory reports record profits. The child povery rate is rising. working and middle class wages struggle while the incomes of the wealthiest in the western world rise to the highest levels in recorded history.
We have an economic system based on greed, self-interest, and abuse - not to mention war, torture, and assassination.
Gee. I dunno. It seems to me there are moral questions here.
On the news today, there was a report of a WalMart employee in Long Island who was trampled to death when a crowd of shoppers broke down the doors of the store, at 5 a.m. and surged in. A pregnant woman, and two other people were also injured in the stampede.
These were probably ordinary people, out early on "Black Friday", the day after Thanksgiving in the US, when stores offer huge bargains on Christmas shopping. Essentially it's the equivalent of our Boxing Day.
