Are Christians Happier?
Rev. Orville James' article appears in the premier edition of http://thehappymagazine.com/latest-issue What Makes You Happy magazine, distributed with today's Globe and Mail. I love the quote: "I'm pretty sure this experience is not restricted to Christians and I've met some pretty cheerful Jes and Muslims, too."
Special thanks to the magazine for its kind support of wonder cafe.
Read the following in an article about Woody Allen. It's from a press conference that he gave for his new movie (You Will Meet a Talk Dark Stranger) which has been playing the festival circuit (including TIFF). I'm still digesting it myself, but thought it was good WC fodder.

[quote=Woody Allen]
All our "problems" have to do with control. The lack of control keeps us from happiness.
Truth is relative to you, showing that nothing is set and nothing is in control of you unless you give it that control by makeing it matter somehow.
Would the truth about the relativity of truth therefore lead to happiness because it empowers us and frees us from the self sustained "the shackles of illusion" by alowing only the things we want to matter to us matter to us, giving us full control?
I feel young when i get a speeding ticket, young in that terrible sense of being unworthy of this world.
I can't remember being young as a child,I guess because I had nothing to compare it to I think I began to feel young at 14 when I was promoted to patrol leader in my scout troop. Scouts have all ages from the young to the elderly at the leadership level. At 14, I at last had a comparison. I was older than some, and younger than some, but still young on the balance.
Did you ever notice that just as one thing in your life starts to get on track something else takes a wrong turn? The rule of 3 maybe... Bad luck is said to come in threes. In the last couple of years up until recently my gloomy day cloud had been my shadow. Now that everything is looking up and falling into place someone else around me is getting all the bad luck I shed. Is it possible not everyone around you can be happy at the same time? Do you pass on your misfortune to someone else like a bad cold?
Well, things seem to be coming up Somegirl lately. My car insurance went down by a bunch, and my husband got an unexpected raise. It might be humanly possible that the bank has finally sorted out the problem with my student loan that I have been trying to deal with since last July (still got my fingers crossed on that one). My kid is away for the weekend. The weather is beautiful and I'm going for a walk on my two strong, mostly healthy legs.
So if any of you have something to celebrate, celebrate here.
