I got one of those emails this morning about homosexuality and how it's a threat to all that's good and holy etc. and that if "you love God you'll pass it on". I deleted it but thought there has to be a better response. How do you respond to this type of email? Is there any point in rebuttal or is it best just to delete?
An African priest Kapya Kaoma has written a report which explains the link between certain US Conservatives with the new anti-gay law in Uganda.
Globalizing the Culture Wars: U.S. Conservatives, African Churches, and Homophobia
As I understand it, the US Conservatives interest in Africa is not just about killing GLBT people.
I recently heard a high school teacher tell his class that these high school years would be he happiest of t heir lives. I smiled. The class was less polite.
They aren't necessarily happy at all. but, it occured me they are perhaps the most intense years of our lives.
I'm a little dissapointed and pretty emotional. Over the past month or so, I've seen too many practicle conversations turn into pointless tossing around of hurtful and often hate inspired comments. I've witnessed beautiful, itteligent and spiritually mature people threaten to leave and depart entirely because of the things that have been said here. I don't know if it's appropriate to start a thread about this, but I'm seeing a split in the community here, and I'm not cool with it at all.
As Christians , could we model our lives around these 4 books of the bible - the Life of Jesus. Or do we need all the other books to understand these 4? If we only had these 4 Gospels would we look at Christianity in a different way? Would we look at Love, hate, relationships, war, peace differently and most important of all, how would we view God?
I was reading an article written by a Prop 8 protester who described some of the counter-protester's signs.
One of the signs said "“GOD DOES NOT LOVE YOU JUST THE WAY YOU ARE.” Why would somebody be holding a sign that said that? Are they a Christian?
