Blasphemy

BLASPHEMY - abuse of or contempt for God or sacred things

Jesus was even accused of blasphemy in Matthew 9:3 when he claimed to be the Son of God.

So, then, when we watch vids of Jesus and God and laugh; bobbleheaded Jesus, buttons, bumperstickers, signs, when we mock other religion's rituals and traditions ( as they may mock ours), when we dance in the sanctuary , and a million other examples that I could name, is this blasphemy?

What, then, is the punnishment for blasphemy? Or is blasphemy for one not blasphemy for another?

Ongoing Study - Women of the Bible -The Woman caught in Adultery John:7:53

The Woman Caught in Adultery

Early in the morning he came again to the temple. All the people came to him and he sat down and began to teach them. The scribes and the Pharisees brought a woman who had been caught in adultery; and making her stand before all of them, they said to him, “Teacher, this woman was caught in the very act of committing adultery. Now in the law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?”

Was Jesus a Feminist?

Y'all should know my answer to this one by now. What's yours?

I did a search to make sure this topic hadn't been discussed yet. It hasn't directly. There were a few very old posts from 1 or 2 years ago that dealt with Christianity and Feminism and holy crap was there some weird stuff posted in those threads.

There are some contentious posts right now about feminism on a thread about homosexuality, which got me started thinking about this one.

SuperChristians: More Pious than Jesus

The phenomena of the SuperChristian is, for sure, nothing new. Just read the mid-second century document,

The Marytrdom of Polycarp

. Not only did his entire martyrdom mirror that of his Saviour, he was accused of being an atheist (for not believing in the gods of the Romans), served Christ flawlessly for eighty-six years, and found the persecuting crowd unworthy of his time.

The Church of jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormons).

Welcome to our group! We are member of The Church of Jesus christ of Latter Day Saints known by many as the " Mormons". We have approx 12 million members worldwide. We welcome you to join our group and meet fellow members. We ask that you keep Gospel standards in your speech and content. This is NOT a site for official Church doctorine. Please visit www.lds.org , the  official website for more information about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (you can aslo access local meethouses and meeting times from the site). Thank-you.

What brought you to Jesus?

There are numerous threads here in the Cafe' right now talking about athiesm.  And as a byproduct of these threads, many atheists and agnostics have posted on why they have come to believe the way they do.

So let me ask the Christians out there.  What is it that brought you into a relationship with Jesus Christ, or to become a follower of Jesus?  What, for you, are the cornerstones of this relationship or your reasons for following?

God bless,

Perfecting God's "Perfect" Law?

Every so often I am astonished by how theologically minded individuals can perform radical surgery on the Bible to cop out of adherence to moral depravities. What further amuses me is the blatantly ignorant “there are no Biblical contradictions” statement. Biblical depravity and contradiction always rears its head whenever criticism of the Old Testament is at hand.
