Piers Morgan - What do you think?

Just saw in the paper this morning ( remember when we didn't get a boxing day paper) that people are trying to get Piers Morgan off CNN because he is very vocal for Gun Control.

Should people be this voca lwhen they hos news t shows or should they keep their thoughts to  them selves?

As for Piers, I say "Good on you".

A marriage made in nerd heaven

It's been known for a while now that George Lucas, the brains behind Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Willow and, whether we like it or not, the movie version of Howard the Duck, wanted to retire or at least get away from his massive legacy to focus on smaller projects. Now he's taken probably the biggest step in doing so - selling Lucasfilm, his production company and the heart of his film empire.

Research, studies, the media and citations

Various media sources often report on a 'study' that has come out.  Most of the time, the study has been published in a peer-reviewed journal.

And all the king's horses?

I confess I am watching the Murdoch Media scandal unfold with what can only be described as unmerciful glee.

I was once a news junkie.  I loved investigative reporting.  To me the 60 Minutes gang were sexier than the Rolling Stones.  I believed in the myth of the roving reporter willingly sacrificing him or herself to get to the bottom of things, to find the Truth, and that was truth with a capital T!

I believed that only through the press could the corruption of power be held in check.

Congregations in the News.

I thought it might be interesting to have a thread where we could post articles or newsclips featuring the United Church either at a congregational or denominational level.

news fabrication.

a friend of mine posted this story on facebook and i thought i would share it just to change up the boards and add a new discussion.  this story is not a big surprise, and i know there are alot of people who frequent this forum that will be saying "and this is news because?!?", but i feel it further adds to your point(s).  the media is well known for fabricating the truth but when it's this blatent, why aren't more people worried?  should the media be held responsible for their actions and misinformation?  it's times like this that further my support for freedo

Where do you look to find good news?

"I'll believe it when I see it."

I've heard that worldly scepticism many times when cynics are told about good works, about a growing spirit of hope and things getting better.  And in today's doom and gloom times, near apocalyptic warnings are so common you can't keep track of them all.
