I found my copy of "Hymns of the 49th Parallel", K. D. Lang's wonderful album of Canadian covers! Hallelujah!!
If you were attending a summer hymn sing, what would get your feet tapping, move your spirit, make you feel the Presence?
I post this because I heard a group sing "Sunny Side"the other day and smiled the whole way through. A friend came in to church the other day singing "O Happy Day" and then I heard a woman in the grocery store softly singing "Down By the Riverside"....
One of the ministries of Dominion-Chalmers is the New Horizons Band program. They were our musical guests on Sunday. The first video features the band. The second is Rev. Murray in conversation with band members, and the third is their grand finale.
Enjoy!
When I feel sad, I listen to certain songs...either that make me sad or make me happy.
What songs help you (either to become happy or stay sad)?
I tend to listen to "Walking in Memphis" by Marc Cohn.
I have just finished putting together a Youtube playlist of my favorite female vocalists, chosen by the quality of their singing, to my ears. For example I enjoy Bjork but I do not think she is an exceptional singer, also a lot of people think Maria Callas is a most wonderful and exceptional singer, but her singing does not appeal to me.
I would be honoured and very pleased if you would care to have a look at my list and leave your comments here.
So....how much risk are you willing to take as a disciple? What is your sense of readiness to do a task....
I am wondering how many here have heard of Phil Och's and/or been influenced by his music.
This thread is for people to post what they're listenning to right now.
Not listenning to something? Then put some music on and let us know what it is :D (maybe post a link so we can have a listen too)
I'm listenning to Rabbit in your headlight by UNKLE
Hey, I know its just under a month away, but who's in for a face to face in Toronto at the More Franchises: A Second Cup event!
Here's Why:
1) Some Wonder Cafers are already going/presenting
2) Spiritbear wants to get a WonderCafe music jam session going. I'm bringing my trumpet, and I know Peter Woods would in with his Jazz soprano sax.
3) I'd be willing to arrange a meeting space at Emmauel College (if needed - I am on the coordinating group for the event)
