Parents & Wills

My hubby has been (repeatedly) suggesting that I find out who the executor is for my parents is, whether or not the have a will and things like that.  He knows all of this for his parents, but he has also helped them with their financial planning and taxes from a fairly young age.

Still Alice

I have just finished reading Still Alice.  This novel is about Alice, 50ish, a PhD in Linguists at Harvard.  She is diagnosed with Early Onset Alzeimers disease.

Both my mother and mother in law had Alzeimers. I think this is a wonderful book and a "must read" for families who have this disease.

Please give it a try.

building memories

Hi all,

As some of you know, my mother passed away last week.  I don't intend on this being a thread to express condolances but rather one where we talk about how to keep memories alive, or how to cement them in our minds to live with us forever.

I have said that I worked hard to remember my dad's voice ( he died in 2002) .  I can clearly see me opening the door each month when they visited, him walking in, giving me a big hug and saying  "Hello love"

Thank You For Your Support and Care

Dear Wondercafe Family,

Words are not enough to express my gratitude for your support and love shown to me and the busygang over the past 2 1/2 months since my Dad had a stroke.  At a time when my emotions were all over the place, my heart was heavy and my body was exhausted, I could slump myself into a chair in front of my computer and breathe in the love and warmth that radiated off the screen and into my heart.   Your messages helped and I read them over and over again.

A very difficult decision.

I have come to a very difficult point in my burgeoning political career.  The Swearing in Ceremony is on monday at 7:00PM.  I asked if I could be sworn in on a Qur'an instead of a Bible for obvious reasons.  The SAO said that she would look into it, and that it probably wouldn't be a problem, but if it was you can just accept the station (for atheists et cetera...).  I would prefer to be sworn in on the Qur'an, but I wouldn't have any qualms about just accepting it if I couldn't.

My Coming out Story

This is an amost 100% accurate story of my coming out. I have condensed two or three conversations into one for your reading pleasure.

I DO NOT WANT THIS TO START YET ANOTHER DEBATE ON HOMOSEDXUALITY.

I hope this could be a thread where people share about their experiences telling their families, friends and (possibly even) their spouses they were gay. We can hear all storts of funny, sad, and happy stories.

Also, I wouldn't find some creative criticism on my writing style, and errors I make.
