In your church life so far, is there any one person or any event or service or ritual that has influences your life?
I can name a few.
Carolyn McDade - her music and her presence at several events that I attended.
National Task Group - Ministry with Chidren, Youth and Young Teens that I participated in for 2 years.
Please, let's keep this conversation respectful.
Yesterday a story was related to me. I won't go into the story but it started out "A drunk Indian woman approached me..............." If it were a Chinese woman I would presume it would be "A drunk Chinese womaan..........." but if it were a white woman, it would be said ."A drunk woman approached me ...." with no reference to race.
I have heard "My neighbour has two cars." but on the other side of me "My East Indian neighbour has two cars."
like i said kinst (wondercafe.ca/discussion/religion-and-faith/dangers-preaching-hate#comment-376394) here is a great big thread (well it will be big) all about you, allow me to get it started
Kinst is awesome!
ok people, let's all talk about how awesome Kinst is! ^_^
create: cause to be, originate, produce, invent
creation: the act of creating, anything created
creator: a person who creates, The Creator - God.
creature: anything created, a person who is completely under the influence of another ( Dictionary of Canadian English)
So, does a Creator Control?
Two people create a third but as that child grows even though the two people can show, teach, and offer suggestions, the third person is not under their control.
Hi Everyone! I am conducting a survey for my psychology class. The topic is very debatable in today’s world. I was wondering what the impact new technologies have on our society, and I was also wondering what other people think about the issue. Do you think that technology is changing society? If so, is it in a positive or negative way?
This past week a ministry colleague of mine emailed that she had been told by some people in her congregation that there was "too much prayer" in the service, and they thought she was using prayer as a cover for being "unprepared" for worship.
I haven’t blogged for a while. That’s because I am on vacation, and was running in circles getting ready to leave Toronto last week.
On the news today, there was a report of a WalMart employee in Long Island who was trampled to death when a crowd of shoppers broke down the doors of the store, at 5 a.m. and surged in. A pregnant woman, and two other people were also injured in the stampede.
These were probably ordinary people, out early on "Black Friday", the day after Thanksgiving in the US, when stores offer huge bargains on Christmas shopping. Essentially it's the equivalent of our Boxing Day.
A new wondercafe group has been set up for working Christians to network.
I like this idea, because it's different for WonderCafe and also because bringing people together is always a good idea (where two or more are gathered...) but also because in the grim economic times ahead we are all going to need more than ever to trust and help each other. I'm thinking of it like a new sort of program. Could call it 20/20:
earn-have 20% less, give-help 20% more...
It's a formula that just might work.
Many people ask, "Why am I here?", "Does God exist?", "What is my purpose?", "Does God really care?" A new book called 'Nest Among The Stars', answers these questions, and many others of a similar nature, in a fast paced, interesting, 'can't-put-it-down', popular fiction style.
