UCC Observer - Interview with Cheri DiNovo

Rev. Cheri DiNovo had an interview about her life in Ontario politics now in the Observer. If you have the time, please read it and listen to what she has to say:

She asks "Would that the United Church came to pray and sit with its members!" I think it's really moving.

new blog

I have just started a new blog. The URL is unfortunate. I wrote in when I was angry, then found I could not change it. Anyway, it deals with how and why newspapers mislead us - at least, that's the starting point.

it's      http://themonctongrimes-dripdrain.blogspot.com

Also a reminder for Moncton and area readers. I have a current events group that meets the first week of each month at Moncton Library at 2:pm. The next meeting, then, is May 6.

On UCC's Decision to Open Pandora's Box: To Jump In or Just to Wade

This is inspired by SG's fine thread "Relating". Go check it out. It has spawned various sub-threads.

And it was inspired by one of boltupright's responses. This one:

Our True North Strong and Smug

Congratulations, Canadians!  Your smugness has been recognized internationally.

Here's the news story:

And as we Canadians have a sense of humour ingrained into our very DNA, laugh with ourselves :3

Another view on Copenhagen and climate change

I am not a climate change debunker but have some discomfort with the processes around Copenhagen. I have been having a hard time working through them because I do not deny there is a problem and I do not deny that we need, urgently, to care for our planet. What I have trouble with is the band-wagon that seems to be surrounding these issues and I feel suspicious.

A chill on public watchdogs

OTTAWA–The departing chair of the Military Police Complaints Commission has taken the Harper government to task for refusing to renew his term in the middle of a major public inquiry into the Afghan detainee controversy.

Peter Tinsley said Friday that it is unprecedented for the government not to renew his appointment as head of the military oversight body.

Women /Sports/Politics ...WHY...?

Just some musings that I hope you can shed some light on...

Wht do all women curlers need to see their hairdressers. Their hair is either blowing or flopping?

Why does Kelly Scott's voice irritate me?

Why does Hilary Clinton look haggard and tired out in the last couple of months? She has aged imo or she is sick.

Why did Primeminister Harper's wife wear stilletto  heels when she was walking on the Great wall of China? She looked ridiculous trying to stand up?

What do you do with e-mails like this?

A  Pastor with GUTS!

Thought you might enjoy this interesting
prayer given in Kansas at
the opening session of their Senate. It seems

prayer still upsets some
people.. When Minister Joe Wright was asked to open

Going to Queen's Park

Some of you know that I have been fighting to get proper services for my severely disabled daughter, and have been stymied in many different ways by the Provincial government.  Thanks to the helpfulness of the Ontario NDP, Daria and I will be in attendance at Queen's Park on Wednesday for Question Period, when there will be a question asked to the government about their refusal to fund the programs they have already established to help people like us.

my Minister the politician.....right or wrong?

I know that Jesus shows by example that faith is not without an element of politics.  I also understand that sometimes God calls us to be prophets and to stand up for social injustice.  Why then, with this understanding, do I feel so violated when my Minster lectures on an issue without telling both sides of the said issue?
