I see that this is one of the threads that Nishy has deleted. I thought that we were having a meaningful discussion about prayer. Who to pray for, what to pray for and if one should be prayed for without their permission. It was very informative. Maybe we could continue.
I tried my best to dig through old topics to find something of the likes, but came up fruitless, so, here it is. A thread for everyone to share the burdens of their heart, ask for prayer and receive the goodness of the Lord and others on this site.
I'll start. I've been having numerous issues with my parents and am finding it hard to forgive. I could use some prayer for that.
Anyone else have something they need prayer for?
The following was posted on a church lawn that I drove by the other day.
"Just Pray and let God do the worrying."
Is this advice good advice?

I had an interesting conversation today with an older lady, a resident at the retirement home where I work. On my way to Good Friday service I stopped by to see how things were going since I had been away at a conference for two days.
I'm not one to pray much. Or, to be honest, at all. I follow prayer in service, and bow my head for grace, but I don't do much more than that. I mean, there are occasional moments when I'll make a conversational comment to God (like "Ooh, nice one there!"), but I have never understood nor been satisfied with what most people see as a necessary part of being a Christian.

Why are we born so far from home? Why is it so hard to travel on that narrow path and enter that tiny gate?… Sometimes the path is covered by so much debris that it is impossible to decipher where we are to go. I just want to see a little bit of the road. Why do my feet lead me down another path? Have I turned away the light beneath my feet? Am I looking too far ahead rather than the imminent path?… Deliver me from my own shadows… Open my eyes…

for me, the benediction at the ceremony yesterday was friggin' brilliant, but man i've seen a lot of people who were very offended by it.
it all seems to revolve around the last part, where he said something to the effect of ...
we pray for the day when
'black will not have to get in back,
when brown can stick aroun',
yellow can just be a fellow,
when the red man can get ahead, man,
and when white will do right...'
I heard this prayer this morning at church, as part of the sermon, and loved it. Thought it would be interest to some of you here. I've copied the text from http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/1052871.html - an English language Israeli newspaper.
