In my UC Conference, efforts are underway to get churches up to speed regarding re (old - 2010!) Ontario legislative ammendments regarding prevention & response to Violence & Harassment in the Workplace.
A first step recommended is to review & adopt "Holy Manners". I'm curious to know if other churches have adopted these as a standard of respectful behaviours. Do you post them? Where? Are there reminders? Do Board/Council members sign any covenant to uphold them?
I'm posting this in R&F because, for me, it’s how we conduct ourselves in our daily life that’s the true measure of our faith.
And the Tree of Life burst from my chest
Longing to touch the world around
Tearing through the soil of my flesh
My heart hung like a fruit in harvest
And although it was not yet mature
I offered it to your request
In desperation I water it with tears
I need some advice. I'm in an interfaith relationship. My boyfriend of 2 years is Jewish, and comes from a really open minded and tolerant family. He's parents really adore me, even though I know his mom wishes I was Jewish. His mother's brother is an Orthodox Rabbi, and isn't as open minded. I haven't met him yet, but I will this Friday, when he comes to town for the Friday night Shabbat dinner at my boyfriend's grandmother's hosue.
Thanks for all the comments. While I do not agree with 100% of all the comments, I do appreciate them all.
This is the sign I will put up.
Welcome to our home.
We believe in simple rules for living.
Respect yourself and all other living beings
Do not lie.
Do nor hurt, by words or acts, others.
Ask permission before taking or using other people's belongings.
Enjoy life.
Thanks
This post actually came to me from one of my religous posts about Lucifer. I was discussing that if I was an angel, I deffinetly would not bow to a human. So that got me thinking about respect.
Everytime I disobey my mother (Her and I don't get on too well.), my father sais that I am to respect her. But I can't! She hasn't done anything to earn my respect. As far things go, all she's done is brought me into the world, which all in all wasn't that big of a favour for me. My father sais that she's already earned her stripes and it's me who's at fault.
I personally am voting for the Branjelinas to make it in the long run. Same with Johnny Depp and Vanessa. What other celeb family men and women that you truly respect?
