WC2 - Oh, behave! - Community Code of Conduct draft discussion

We have put a first draft (well, first public draft, it's been drafted a few times among ourselves) of a Code of Conduct, including proposed sanctions and appeals process, for Wondercafe 2. There will not be a vote on it at this time. We are merely putting it out for discussion so you can have at it and propose changes, alternatives, new ideas, etc. If you think you can do it better, put your idea up on your blog and link to it from the thread. If you just want to change a clause or section, put your proposed change up in the thread. Nothing is cast in stone yet.

why is a cross check cross?

A Quebec judge has ruled that a cross check is an offense under criminal law.

So - today's question is - why is a cross check called a cross check? (it goes across the body or face, of course. But almost all checks do that. So why is only one type called a cross check?)

Hint - the answer is not in Revelation.

Hint - the reason comes from another sport.

Simple "Rules" for living

Thanks for all the comments. While I do not agree with 100% of all the comments, I do appreciate them all.

This is the sign I will put up.

Welcome to our home.

We believe in simple rules for living.

Respect yourself and all other living beings

Do not lie.

Do nor hurt, by words or acts, others.

Ask permission before taking or using other people's belongings.

Enjoy life.

Thanks

Our rules for visitors to our home

Good day all and Happy New Year.

Before starting this post i would like to share my wishes/blessings for the New Year with you all.

" May you be blessed with all that you need and gifted with some of what you want."

I am about to post a sign at the entrance to our house, just to the side of the main door that will read:

This is Grand-ma and Grand-pa's home. You are welcome always but there are rules if you are to stay welcome.

#1 Do not hurt anyone or any living being either in actions or in words.

#2 Do not lie.

How is that ok?

My family is lucky enough to own a RV and rent a seasonal site on a lake near my city.  We practically lived out there this summer and over that time I think I saw more examples of bad parenting then I have in my whole life combined.  It's bad enough that my friend (17 year old daughter of our RV neighbous) fights all the time with her stepmom, but on top of that her little 8 year old brother is a night mare.  And I mean really a nightmare (I have known many a little boy in my life and none have ever been as bad as him.
