We are in G.Õ.D. and G.Õ.D. is in us--according to some new physicists

According to some physicists, we are in G.Õ.D. and G.Õ.D. is in us. To explore this idea, check out the work of Neil Turok, who wrote the book THE UNIVERSE WITH--From Quantum to Cosmos. Here are some of the detail you will need to participate, OK?

Is there an Eternal Hell?

Here's an interesting take on the theme of Eternal Salvation/Eternal Damnation I came across recently. Hell IS eternal!" It must be because it guarantees human freedom and human ability to make a choice. Without choice there is no love. God is Love - eternal Love. And... we must have the freedom to choose God, but also to not choose God, or else we're not doing so willingly and not out of Love! Hell guarantees our freedom. It is our freedom, maybe! This line of thinking leaves open the question...

Thoughts About Calvinism (And Theology In General)

There is much discussion about Calvinism on the boards. I've spent the afternoon doing some reading and reflecting, since, for now, my family's out of town and I have the whole house to myself. I don't call myself a Calvinist - partly because I wouldn't completely qualify and partly because I think it starts to fall into the trap Paul refers to in 1 Corinthians (you know - some follow Paul and some follow Apollos; or - today - some follow Calvin and some follow Arminius (not the one on this board - although he may well have followers :-) and some follow Borg and some follow Vosper, etc.

Christmas is Boring

As we head into this advent season I wanted to reflect on Christmas and what it means to me.  And then I realised that it means nothing to me.  At least this year.  I'm bored.  I'd rather just head out to the lake with Peter and James and go fishing.  Jesus can come too.  I hear he's pretty good luck on the water.  If I found myself at the manger (of Christ, Orsiris, or Horus depending on your myth) I'd probably be too busy playing with the animals to care what's going on.

Work out your own salvation?

Philippians 2:12 says 'work out your own salvation...with fear..for it is God what works within you'. Loosely paraphrased...

So, what does that mean for us? I hear a lot of talk about Tolle and the greatness of the Presence of Now. Is that not just the Kingdom of God within us? What about this working out salvation on your own? If Jesus died for us, for our salvation, then why do we have to work on it?
