Just posted my sermon for Thanksgiving Sunday, linked to Matthew 6:25-34, in a blog. In it I offer using gratitude as a way to quit worrying.
"Wherever light is, no matter how weak, these flowers will find it. And that's such an admirable thing. And such a lesson in life." —"Chris" in Calendar Girls, 2003
We have just had the most amazing Thanksgiving weekend. Sun. Warmth. More sun.
So easy to feel positive and thankful on a warm sunny day in October. But what about the rest of the time?
I appears that London (and, I assume, the rest of Southwestern Ontario) is getting a very nice bit of Indian Summer this weekend. Highs in the low to mid twenties, lows getting back above 10 after deeping into the low single digits a week ago. Last weekend, I fired up the furnace. This weekend, I'm opening all the windows. How's the long weekend weather elsewhere?

Saturday’s Saskatoon StarPhoenix got it right: I’m boarding the Spirit Express this morning as the means by which to continue participating in all kinds of “conversations at the table.” I am grateful for many opportunities to share myriad concerns and joys of members and leaders, and for the ways your concerns and joys lead you—and me—into deeper participation in God’s healing work.
In 10 minutes, it will be Thanksgiving in my time zone. The clocks have already switched in the area to the east.
So, for those who wake up......maybe from a restless night....maybe to a babies cry, or a teen who isn't home yet.....or just the normal morning wake up..
what is one thing you give thanks for.
