Netflick Recommendations

I might get some broader ideas from you guys than my friends.

Here are mine:

Orange is the New Black - if you're on Netflix you've probably at least heard of it.  I really enjoyed it!

American Horror Story - every season is basically a separate show.

The first season was a haunted house.

The 2nd was a mental institution, with some 'monsters' and someone gets locked in who shouldn't be there.  I found the 2nd season much more interesting.

Is anyone watching this show?  Do any people in your church behave like the characters?

the Sopranos

While i am a decade late to the Sporano's band wagon I see we haven't discussed it.

My son gave us season 1 for Christmas and I am overwhelmed by this show.

how creative, artistic, amazing it is.

the ethical pull that Tony feels between his family and his mafia family is terrific.

It is violent and it has tremendous profanity.  And yet, the profanity is so ordinary and so much a part of how they talk that it is almost unnoticable in many ways.

Fave TV shows and why...

Hi... just reading comments about Dancing with the Stars and American Idol and thought I'd love to know what people like to watch, if they watch TV at all...

A few of my favourite shows aren't back on till April but they are:

Glee - it makes me laugh every show and I'm always left humming.  I have season 1 on DVD and will be watching it all again before it starts in a couple of weeks...

The Waters of Mars

"Who needs atom clamps?  I've got a funny robot."  One of the best lines on TV ever.

Have you started watching Glee?

The season there is a great new show on TV called Glee.  It is a funny and sarcastic look at High school.  THe cast meembers are all stereotypes of high school students.

The football captain, and his cheerleader girl friend

The mohawk guy

the nerd

the gay guy who has come out to his father

the dumb blonde.......

Each show has a few musical numbers and it really is fun.  Most of the actors are from Broadway so the singing is great.

upstairs, downstairs

The BBC has announced it is renewing its wonderful TV series of the 1970s, Upstairs, Downstairs. Indeed, one of the original stars will appear in the new one as Rose, the parlour maid returns as the leading servant. The original series was set about 1900 to 1930. The new one begins in 1936, though with the house still the central character, and it's role still close to the centre of imperial power.

Married With Children

Anyone watch Married with Children?

I like it.  I think it is funny and takes things a bit too far but really I think that the average All American or All Canadian family is coming down to this.  I am more familaar though with guys who lay on the couch all day being supported by their wives and not women doing that.  I am sure women do it too I just have not seen it.

What do the rest of you think?

are the schools different?

Any eachers out there? I'm a retired teacher (grades seven to university), recentaly retired, and more recently supply teaching. I find a stunning difference is some of the kdis.

I don't see it in the local village school which has a largely rural population. It's in the regional elementary and high schoola that have a lot of town kids.
