Why doesn't the United Church of Canada have an app for smart phones? There are many relgious organizations that do and as a result they reach people who like to read on their smart phones. The United Church of Christ in the U.S. has an app that is loaded with information about that church. I know that there is an app for EZ Squirrel related to Wondercafe but EZ Squirrel doesn't connect directly to the UC.
The United Church Observer would also do well to develop an app for its readers.
Interesting renderings of the proposed national office site at Bloor St. United Church in Toronto.

I arrived home from Kootenay presbytery at midnight last night, bursting with resurrection soul-energy for God’s wonderful world and wonderful church. The packed choir loft of Kimberley United Church in Kimberley B.C. yesterday couldn’t contain the harmonies of trumpet and voice in singing and playing What a Wonderful World (music and lyrics by Weiss and Thiele, arranged by Russ Robinson.)
Welcome! At Cambridge Street, we aim to be a caring, loving family. Our mission statement: "We, as members of Cambridge Street United Church, seek to follow Jesus Christ through word, music, and social action; thereby, nurturing our personal faith and supporting the faith journey of others. I know that years back when the United Church spoke, the country listened. I know that has changed.
I also have put this thread here rather than in Church life because I would like to hear a wider discussion.
I always have had the feeling that The United Church and the people of the United Church felt that they were a cut above other denominations.
The United Church of Canada was featured in a beautiful story in today’s Globe and Mail, entitled “A Leap of Faith” http://www.theglobeandmail.com/life/parenting/parenting-facts-and-arguments/i-was-unsure-about-baptizing-our-son/article2166116/ Here is the text:

Anyone know of the United Church of Canada POI app for the GPS? Might be interesting to create one. Ideas? Data source? If McDonalds and Tom Hortons can do it, why not the United Church?
Walk with Dan Benson as he visits United Church partners in Kenya. http://dan-in-kenya.blogspot.com/

This story warmed the cockles of my heart - it renews my faith in the United Church of Canada's ability to bring people together.
Just over a week ago, I started a job at the United Church head office, in the JGER unit. That's the Justice, Global and Ecumenical Relations unit, for the uninitiated. And I was blown away at the breadth and depth of what goes on here.
