Do you think Wondercafe could become an Affirming site?

This would imply some sort of a process to define what is affirming in a virtual world.

It would then mean a very legitimate process to support glbttq2 (?)

It would also mean a way to put "wrappers" around non-affirming threads.

I'm a little dissapointed and pretty emotional. Over the past month or so, I've seen too many practicle conversations turn into pointless tossing around of hurtful and often hate inspired comments. I've witnessed beautiful, itteligent and spiritually mature people threaten to leave and depart entirely because of the things that have been said here. I don't know if it's appropriate to start a thread about this, but I'm seeing a split in the community here, and I'm not cool with it at all.

Hi Everyone

Seeler & her husband will be staying at Five Oaks in Paris, ON the weekend of July 10.

I would love to have a bbq on Saturday July 11th with wondercafe folks at Five Oaks.  I am thinking that for a minimal cost, we could chip in & book the summer centre.

For those who would be interested in making a weekend of it, accomodations are available at Five Oaks.

There is lots to do, it is suitable for families...maybe we could have a campfire.

Since Wondercafe opened we have had ongoing discussions about a more closely moderated site. IMO, I think we monitor ourselves quite well with  the Admin always being there to help. What do you think? Have your views changed over the last years? Would you like a more active moderator on WonderCafe? What would be your reasons?

We all have ideas about the Emerging Spirit campaign. We all speak up here. I have sent comments to the Observer from posters on the Grass Roots thread. Maybe they will be printed in June Observer.

But what can we do?

How can the voice of the people be heard at General Council?

How can the decision to keep the initiative ( and WonderCafe) be influenced by us?

Any ideas?

I will post this on all the threads so that we can try and hear from as many as possible.

As you know, WonderCafe.ca  has been an experiment of the United Church of Canada and at General Council in August , the cafe's fate will be in the hands of those who are there to do the work of the church.
