I hereby Chansenize with a rumination that involves a poem you all know but should, I think
not mind seeing again it echoes (a trifle negatively) to the post of Rumi's interesting analysis of church attendance ---
I admit being a reincarnation of an ancient poet...named Omar......But it is true that
When I was young I did frequent
Both Doctor and Saint and heard Great Argument
About IT, and about
But ever more came out the door
Wherein I went.
Underneath this Inverted Bowl we call the sky
Where under, men live
And die
Look not up to IT
For IT moves as impotently as you
And I.
The Moving Finger writes, and having writ, moves on
And neither piety nor wit will cancel half a line
Nor tears wash out a word of it
But beneath the bow
A loaf of bread, a jug of of wine and thou
'Twere paradise NOW.
Before I start with more of my antics
Did I bring my book on Quantum Mechanics?

Hi HG:
Books on Quantum Mechanics are not required beneath the bough.
A jug of wine, a loaf of bread—and Thou
beside me singing in the wilderness
is quite enough for paradise enow.
What did Omar have to say about declining church attendance?
Better one flash within the tavern caught
Than in the temple lost outright.

Hi HG,
Haha! Private post, huh? Your April fools joke is a day late--which makes it even better!
Nice poem.

Yeah, I always get hung up on the 'enow' bit. Sounds like my cat.

No decline at all! Year after year! Prob'ly cause there were no churches...

Than in the temple lost outright.
I'm in for at least two flashes m'self

Come fill the cup,
And in the fire of spring
Your winter garment of repentance fling.
Church attendance is declining because people want less preaching and more "garment flinging".

Too late Happy_Genius, one of my trips 'round universe collided with one of you around Wolf 358 and we dined on some Borg Cube parts (slightly salty) and I adsorbed a descendant of someone from WC who had actually seen your thread, so...*sheepish grin*
First there is a church, then there isn't a church, then there is.
Churches are just churches
Churches are not churches
Churches are churches again

Like the "Elysian Mysteries," where the "Daughters of Elysium" dropped their garments and danced themselves into ecstasy?
Freude, schöner Götterfunken,
Töchter von Elysuim,
Wir betreten, freudertrunken,
Heilige, dein Heligtum.
(Joy, you spark of godly beauty,
Daughters of Elyisum,
Will will enter, drunk with pleasure,
Heavenly, your heavendom.)

Of course, Inanna, the real church is inside our heads, and once it happens there, it can happen anywhere, including church.

I read it but found out that it wasn't quite word for word of the original Omar Khyyam, the 12th century, Persian poet, (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Omar_Khayy%C3%A1m#Poetry).
But since you are the reincarnation of this old soul, then you can take your poetic licence and reword your own work.
Thanks HG.

I hereby Chansenize with a rumination that involves a poem you all know but should, I think
now you've done it; now chansen has a theme song, i hear the Chemical Brothers "Galvanize" (but i put in "chansenize") whenever he goes into chansenize mode
it's an energetic song :3

Chansenization and Rumination are diametric opposites: Chansenization is pursuing and expressing the cosmic analysis; Rumination is experiencing and expressing the cosmic synthesis. The two are, of course, complementary. Rumi knows that, but maybe Chansen doesn't.
