Thanks for the comment, Musky!
Is once a week about right for new postings?

The Spark on CBC radio had a good blog tips last season. I don't know if you can still get them as podcasts or in text on their site or not. If I remember correctly they even had blog assignments. Two tips that I remember that they gave were to blog regularily and to have a focus to your blog. It can be a broad focus like politics, social issues, or the community where you live but if it's about politics you shouldn't include tales of your trip to the cottage. You probably already know that you can have multiple blogs under the same username on blogspot so you can have a different one if you want to blog about something else.

Hi Mike, I'll make a technical suggestion to resize your header photo...those waves are absolutely beautiful, but it is easier for readers if your blog is fit to the width of a computer screen, so we don't have to scroll way over to the right to see the whole thing. I see you're using Blogger - I just moved my blog this week from another site and am finding Blogger much easier to use than my old blog host.
I agree with somegirl that there are strategies, like having a particular focus, that will increase traffic, but I'm afraid I can't offer any advice in that area. I basically blog for myself because I love writing and blogging is a great outlet for that. Although I have developed a kind of community with those few who read my blog on a regular basis, and I am always grateful when they let me know a particular post has inspired or touched them. I tend to blog at least a couple times a week, sometimes daily, although my posts can range from several paragraphs in length to a single sentence accompanying a photograph. Depends on my mood. But I would say once a week minimum if you want to keep people coming back.
My biggest tip is...have fun!!

Thanks guys: I will look at that header pic. It kind of took me a bit by surprise. I may have to re-size the original because I couldn't see a way of resizing it on the page!
As I said, I'm feeling my way, but it is kinda fun... and a relief from long waits for rejection letters from publishers and agents... a lot of them do not bother responding at all! It is frustrating.

GOT IT!!! ...I cut the pic back to size. None of these things are ACTUALLY as tricky as they seem when you run into them cold...
