there has been talk of role-playing games and Live Action Role Playing Games being at the end of their existence...
but one just has to look at the statistics and be heartened
right now, number one spot is a race for two very big RPGs & LARPs (each with many different subrules and subcultures), Christianity & Islam
With Hinduism, a much older RPG/LARP in third place
So bless you, Axial Age, for bringing us this bounty
(I just wish these gamers would stop killing each other over rules disputes :3)
And have fun, those who are currently having their Easter conventions
And Passover conventions
And Ridvan conventions

what are some of you folks' favourite rpg/larp convention centres (you might know them as 'churches', 'places of worship', 'temples', 'circles', etc)?

Beautiful photos. A fairly young crowd in a really old church. Those are rather huge open flames and a tightly packed crowd. I hope noone's hair caught on fire.

My new monthly charges started Apr.15. Rogers is expensive. I pay $215- $220. a month includes TV cable, Rogers movies channel $17 , phone, and the net for 80 GB... costs $2. for 2 GB usage if over. Videos are a killer...!!!!!!!!!! Bell is no better. Shaw and Telus not so popular here, Telus used mostly for iphones etc.

No third party cable providers/resellers in your area, stardust? I use TekSavvy for Internet. $48.95+HST/month for 300GB of usage, same up and download speeds as Rogers. For a couple dollars more, you can go to unlimited. Of course, your TV would probably go up since you're likely bundling. On top of that, we use a small Chinese VOIP phone provider called iTalk which is like $10 a month. The only thing we use a big provider for is TV (Bell satellite) and I'd happily dump that if we could easily get things like The National on our Smart TV (you can stream it from CBC's site but they only keep the last two days up and Mrs. M is sometimes 3 or 4 days behind in watching it on our PVR).

TekSavvy is reliable...?...its part of Rogers? I was reading about problems with it...?
My highrise, 195 apts., seems to be secured and is in a constant battle between Bell and Rogers, lobby meetings etc. I've had problems with TV signals in the past so I've been a bit leery of changing. I should do something. I seldom use my landline, the prices are getting ridiculous. ITalk sounds good enough. My grandson likes the movies, there's a big variety free on Rogers alongside the monthly fee. Yes, I have a bundle but its not so hot either. Thx. for the info.

I just picked up a combo modem and wifi from Rogers $8. a month. I had a router that didn't work so well and problems with my grandson's iphone5, a mess. What are you using with Teksavvy? Their modem and your own router for WiFi...or you bought both?

Teksavvy has their ups and down but, to be honest, some of the reliability issues we've had have been with Rogers since they use Rogers cable for the "last mile" (i.e. the connection into the house) so using Rogers would not have helped. One time, Rogers' name servers were down and Teksavvy's weren't so we've been up when they've been down, too. I have never used Rogers so I can't compare speeds but after years on ADSL (Bell's technology) just having cable has been a godsend.
The other issue they have had was a lawsuit related to users downloading movies from a particular studio (forget the name, but its the one that released The Hurt Locker a few years ago). The courts have now ordered them to release info for the alleged pirates but, to their credit, Teksavvy did fight it and didn't just keel over when the order came. This started around the time we joined and we don't do a lot of downloading so did not affect us.
I bought a modem from Teksavvy but they will let you use your own as long as it meets spec (DOCSIS 3, IIRC). I have my own gateway/Wifi access point. I'm in IT so I prefer to have a router that I can easily self-manage.

Thanks so much for all the info. I also have a Gateway Cisco DPC 3825 modem - Wifi owned by Rogers. It costs $200. to buy. I have to check what I'm saving in discounts re the Rogers bundle. Honestly, I don't have the patience to deal with these companies but I need to do something.
