Is anyone else getting threads labelled as "new" in their profile/track section. Usually, this area will show threads I have participated in, in the order of most recent downward. These threads that aren't even active are coming up as "new" and I see no new activity in any of them. I'm wondering if the admins are doing some work that has changed the settings or removed some posts. It's hard to follow the conversations that I've been tracking but it seems that some "behind the scenes" work is being done or perhaps someone is going through them removing stuff?
Your experience/thoughts/feedback would be appreciated.

Hi Mof5 - I noticed this afternoon there are now New Blog Entries listed on my "Track" tab - I'm appreciative of that ... I do enjoy reading the blogs & have forgotten about them lately.
But also, some old threads have "new" beside them - and indeed no activity on them for some months in some cases. I assume a "glitch in progress".
Do you know how some threads get "Updated" posted beside them? How is this different from "New" ?

Hmmm ... I just looked at some of the "New" Blogs - they're actually a few YEARS old! Admin must be doing something ... I'll be patient & see what

I'm selling T-Shirts "I Survived the Great WC Forae Shuffle of '09"
Only $19.95 shekles!
I would guess it is a side-effect of some of you asking Admin if they could move the "Page #" links to the top as well as the bottom of each Forae.
(take a look -- there is a difference. I'd guess that when Admin changed it, it makes each topic New)
In a world where there are never only good consequences, I guess the only way 'out' is to have responsibility for our views.

Sometimes it means that some one has gone in and edited a previous post - the reason I know this is because I noticed it recently when someone decided to do a mass edit of their posts.
I did notice this morning I was getting a ton of "updated" messages.but don't know if it is due to someone editing or something else because to be honest I have the memory retention of a gnat and can't remember what is in my own post let alone someone else's.
I'm not sure I can cope with anymore changes - I just got used to that little side bar thing with the recent threads.

My guess is someone is updating their posts. I noticed it started last night .

This is the 'pattern' I tried to decode:
up to page 3 of my track list, that red "NEW" word appeared in every listing;
it happened at the same time (1 day, 32 minutes ago and 6 hours ago from 18:26);
there doesn't seem to be a pattern to the Nicknames (other than, they are all WCers).

I also note that there are threads missing which can't be turned up by a search. Most notably Revjohn's thread about "Counting the Costs" which got heavy action over the last few days and now is nowhere to be seen. You may recall it as the one on which I was being a "jerk".

Those weird things are still happening in my tracking area. I have no idea what's causing it but I doubt it would be Admin(s) doing thread maintenance on a Sunday. However, I could be wrong but it just seems very strange.

There is a thread and I can't remember which one where Aaron tell about the function of deleting threads that has since been removed. I think on that thread he says that Rev John's thread was removed because of some questionable posts. LB , do you remember what thread that was?

Heh, did it happen 5 minutes ago Crazyheart - asking me to remember something is always a dangerous thing these days.
It may have been RevJohn's Counting Costs but it might have been in another one that was discussing the same issue - ie. Nishy's self deleting a thread - there were a couple going on at the same time and I do remember Aaron making a post saying that that ability was being removed because it had been abused - thus RevJohn can not be the culprit this time.
(Disclaimer: before anyone misconstrues that last statement I am not implying, inferring or even remotely hinting that RevJohn has ever been a culprit of any shape, size or form, in this lifetime or a previous one).
I can't imagine Counting Costs was removed by Admin, particularly when it ended with everyone telling Qwerty how much we love him although nothing surprises me anymore.

I believe that the thread "Counting the Costs" has been closed by Admin. I have no idea what their reasoning is.
I can still access the thread through my discussions page so that material has not been deleted, at least not yet.
The post wherein it is alleged that I insult both Serena and Agnieszka was deleted from the thread by an action of Admin and I have had no word from admin by way of "head's up" or "fly straight." At least no word has come forward from Admin as of the time of this posting.
I suspect that any who have posted to that thread can still access it via the tracking option in their profile.
Grace and peace to you.

I remember that conversation quite clearly. It happened a little bit differently than you remember.
I mentioned that Agnieszka had deleted threads that she initiated and I expressed the sentiment that I felt being able to censor one's self was good (via the edit function). I respected Admin's right to censor since they are ultimately responsible for this place. I stated strongly that I disagreed with anyone else's ability to censor the general membership by deleting threads.
Aaron spoke to that directly and stated that the ability to delete entire threads had been abused and the function was being taken away from the general membership.
To the best of my knowledge I have never had Admin reprimand me privately or publicly.
I'm not sure which thread that conversation took place in. I suspect that it may have been the "Counting the Cost" thread which has now been locked. I will check later to be certain.
Grace and peace to you.

Hi Motheroffive,

I most certainly did not delete the thread in question. In fact, it was on that thread that Admin announced that it had killed the ability of thread originators to delete threads.
I will edit posts if I see a glaring typo or, if I notice that I have made a mistake in quoting a source.
I have only once approached Admin with a request to delete threads I have posted and that was on behalf of the individual I had quoted who wanted all material from that ancient thread deleted.
I have repented of misdoings when I was convinced that I had done wrong. I would not delete any such material that I posted because, as I argued elsewhere, memory isn't always sharp and when material is deleted and the offence is removed it becomes easier to pretend the offence never happened.
I wouldn't let myself off of the hook that easily.
Grace and peace to you.

The Squirrel obviously has learned through his network of rodent spies that my prize winning squirrel dog is currently on forced rest - very long story but suffice to say that both the dog and I are getting cranky because she can not run free and do what a dog does best, chase squirrels, and I am forced to walk her many times a day and I think she is getting constipated and believe me a constipated dog is not a happy dog, what the heck was I writing about, oh yeah - but when she is on the loose again, my fine furry editing friend, you better watch out.
There! See if you can edit that run on sentence to defame the rev who shall remain nameless to avoid further insult to the great one.

How very odd.
As I reported above - before the Squirrel became involved - The Atheist Fool thread was locked in Religion and Faith, yet when I opened my Track there it was with three new posts, out of curiosity as to how this turn of events occurred I opened it, and the Discussion Group did not say Religion and Faith but Atheist - yet an Atheist discussion group appears nowhere on the Discussion Group List and within Religion and Faith the thread is still locked.
Oh, please don't tell me I have to empty my browser again to see whatever changes have been created.
