iwould like to see comments for people out there on wonder cafe directed to people who are dating in thier 40s...janine....

Well, dating in your 40's is worst than dating in your teens, it is at the other end of the scale though, instead of looking forward to someday having kids, you wonder if your new girlfriends kids will accept you,, usually they don't.

Hmmm, can someone in their 50's comment? While I appreciate the comment M. Edmonton made about kids, in the end if you and the girl/guy really feel this is a relationship you want to be committed to and have worked out the details of discipline, having each other's backs and being first and foremost a 'couple', then you can find a good thing.
If you and the other party have truly dealt with the emotional after-math of the first relationship (get counseling if you need to), feel you are ready to leave the past in the past and move into the future, well I believe it can work. Scars will be present, but in time with love and gentle care, they will fade and just be a reminder of what 'once was'.
There are so many wonderful resources out there about blending families, I want to encourage you to go ahead and explore another relationship....blessings

Gosh if only I could meet someone in my own age group, all I seem to attract are younger guys, who make me feel old.
