Spearheaded by WonderCafe.ca and Emerging Spirit, Paint Your Faith is a bold initiative to spark public conversations about our values, our experience of spirituality, and the meaning of faith. Through Paint Your Faith, art becomes part of the dialgue, and promotes The United Church of Canada as a gathering place for people to connect and share with each other in their exploration and experience of life, faith, and spirituality.

On September 19, 2009, Paint Your Faith launched at downtown Toronto’s Metropolitan United Church with the unveiling of a stunning, one-of-a-kind urban art installation covering a 30’ x 60’ exterior wall donated by the church. The work, created by four internationally acclaimed street artists as a collective interpretation, instantly became a part of the vibrant Toronto landscape.

The mural reflected the collective interpretation of faith of four world-renowned aerosol artists – California artists Chor Boogie, Siloette, and Toronto artists Elicser, and Mediah – created over two weeks of collaboration.

In April 2010, the Paint Your Faith project hit the city of Vancouver with a 13’ x 130’ mural at 55-57 W. Hastings Street, across from the Woodwards Building.

Brought to you by Wondercafe.ca and First United Mission Church, the four internationally acclaimed aerosol artists worked as a collective to express their unique and unified interpretation of faith were Faith47 from South Africa, Titi Freak from Brazil, Peeta from Italy and Vancouver’s own Indigo. For seven days, these artists turned a blank wall into their own personal canvas, creating a piece of art that will change the Vancouver landscape and open discourse for what faith, spirituality and art is really about.

The inspiration doesn’t end there. In collaboration with our artists, we have designed one-of-a-kind items centered on their works and made them available for purchase. From 54”x54” canvases to t-shirts to skate decks, there is something in there for everyone. So make sure to stop by the Paint Your Faith store while browsing the website.

A portion of the revenue from these items goes in aiding the artists in continuing their artistic aspirations, while the remainder supports exciting initiatives from The United Church of Canada such as Paint Your Faith.
