I've seen some confusing reporting on the new guidelines for HIV testing in BC.
The worst was a news anchor who said that now people ages 18-70 can be tested every 5 years.
I'm assuming they could be tested at least that often in the past right? It just wasn't recommendation for the general population?
It was the first I heard of the change, so then headlines like this which I normally wouldn't question seem to stand out now too:
Positions Available: The British Columbia Conference of The United Church of Canada currently has three Conference Minister Positions available.

Three eagles caught my attention within moments of arriving on Haida Gwaii last Thursday, signalling the strong spirit of things to come over the next four days. I was able to catch only a few images. Capturing an eagle’s elegant flight proved impossible.
Well, the latest from our fair province is that our government, led by Gordon Campbell and the BC Liberals, are considering granting corporations the right to vote in municipal elections. If this was granted, we would be the only jurisdiction in Canada to allow such a thing. Here's a clip from a Policy Note from the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives on what's to come if this is permitted (click for the full article) :
Lower and middle income seniors in care in BC are having their rates increased in public-funded spaces. (click bolded for CBC story) As if the situation isn't bad enough with our provinces having the fewest number of these spaces available, per capita, in the country, the BC Liberal government is going to raise the rates for seniors in care by between $120 - $160 or so per month for seniors whose annual income is $22,000 per year and up.
This has been bothering me for a while now and I want to ask the opinion of some others attending General Council 40 in Kelowna.
Over the past few years (having been accelerated in the past few months), the Vancouver Olympics have overtaken the city of Vancouver and the province of BC (and much of the rest of Canada, in the form of advertising campaigns, etc.). But while most Canadians are reveling in the attention the world will soon focus on our country, injustice and discrimination and racism bubble just beneath the surface.
