Okay we can stop talking about Frankenstorm now. Its over. It has served well, though as a distraction from the more important news that you aren't hearing about and which will affect all Canadians for most of our natural lives.
Oil to China? Free trade with China? What's this all about?
Historically, Canada has always played second fiddle to its most important trade partner - first Britain, and now the US. Canadian business has always pressed for Canada to ape the foreign policy of the nation they depend on , and to fight its wars. And that is what we have done since at least the late nineteenth century.
There has has been an uptick in Tibetan Buddhist self-burnings. This op-ed article from The Wall Street Journal puts the blame on the repressive Chinese govt, some commenters have different ideas. We know China is extremely fussy about religion. They will not let the Vatican appoint clergy in China, they insist on doing it themselves...so I can well believe they are being repressive about Buddhism.
This is a site that is has discousions from China and North America, bascially from a AN Whitehead influenced perspective. http://www.jesusjazzbuddhism.org.
Last night, my sister and I went through Mom's tea cups.
Mom had been wanting us to sit down and select which ones we wanted for a long period of time, but, somehow, we never got to it. Either too busy, or...it felt too much like it was a recognition we would be losing her.
Mom had 38 teacups.
There were the very old ones from her mother, and the more recent ones given to her by her children when we were young.
There were the 50th wedding aniversary & 25th wedding anniversary ones.
As a couple of you have already noted, I'm back from my trip to China. I've done a write-up on my Wonderblog and will add a link to pics when I have them sorted out and can get a few of them posted on Flickr or some similar photo sharing site.

As some of the WC regulars have noted, I am back from my travels. I spent about 18 days in China all told, divided among Shanghai, Xian, and Jiuzhaigou National Park in Szechuan province. I’m still sorting through my pics but will post some of them in a Windows Live album or Flickr or something and link it here later. Here is a quick rundown of my adventures.
