and I have posted my frst draft of my message in a blog. It bothers me that historically this coming Sunday was associated with Christian triumphalism which was and is contrary to the life and teachings of Jesus. I hope you will enjoy it.
A sermon preached at Central United Church, Windsor on December 4, 2011
Scripture Text: Isaiah 40:1-11, Mark 1:1-8
Mark begins his gospel with words from the prophet Isaiah. Isaiah hears a voice: “Prepare the way of the Lord.” The prophet announces that God is about to do something new. Their captivity is over. They are going home.
Like so many Canadian celebrities, it had to go make it big in the United States before it could come back to Canada and be welcomed. I’m talking about the Occupy Wall Street movement, which was born in Vancouver at Adbusters magazine.

As I understand it, the US Conservatives interest in Africa is not just about killing GLBT people.
Pinga has a very informative thread on Wills and estates - who to leave estate to, how much and the rational.
This leads me to ask the question - Do our religions expect that our time on earth is to accumulate money and possessions so that we can leave it for future generations to use, invest or squander? Or does God have a different plan for our legacy?
For people who do not have a lot to leave children and grandchildren, are we setting up empiracle situations?
What is your take on this?
There's a magnificent story in the bankruptcy of GM. One wouldn't think so to read the news, but this is, historically, like being on the walls of Rome as the barbarian hordes swept forward, like being a carib Indian with a video camera filming by satellite as Columbus' ships dropped anchor.
It symbolizes one of the great turning points of history because the post recession world is going to be very, very different from what we have known. five hundred years of history are about to fall away.
I haven’t blogged for a while. That’s because I am on vacation, and was running in circles getting ready to leave Toronto last week.
