What are some of your first memories?
Are they positive or negative?
How old do you estimate you were?
I was just listening to a collection of songs I liked as a kid, and on came a song with a decidedly different sound, and I recognized it as from a later period in my life than childhood. It was not yer regular 70's song, or bare rock number of the early 80's nooo.... it was a new wave song, and a sound that to me is congruous with that wonderful, terrifying and exciting blooming of awakening we call puperty. This particular song was "If I Was" by Midge Ure...
Hi all,
As some of you know, my mother passed away last week. I don't intend on this being a thread to express condolances but rather one where we talk about how to keep memories alive, or how to cement them in our minds to live with us forever.
I have said that I worked hard to remember my dad's voice ( he died in 2002) . I can clearly see me opening the door each month when they visited, him walking in, giving me a big hug and saying "Hello love"
Recently, I have begun writing memoirs for my children. nothing fancy. Just notes written quickly, and so quite brief - maybe just a page an evening. It's proven quite fun as each evening brings back events I had long forgotten, and gives me ideas for the next one. And, simple as it is, I think the children will always enjoy having it. I might even begin incorporating old photos, get some use out of them - and photos will be far more interesting for the kids if they have a context for them.
Watching the documentary Teddy - In My Own Words tonight made me remember.
Do you remember where you where when you heard that President John Kennedy, Robert Kennedy and Martin Luther King were assassinated?
Does this bring back memories in your own life?
Do you have any thoughts about Teddy Kennedy or the Kennedy families?
Are there other deaths of political people that bring back memories for you?
Greetings
Greetings, Question: After many years of purposly repressing memories of life, and excellently trained to do so, have i compromised my future. In the sense that now that life is better, i cant stop repressing all but the most crucial of things :L Is there treatment for this, home made or professional? Any tricks to eliminate this?
