I thought I'd test the waters of this site and see how many atheists actually frequant these hallowed halls. If you are an atheist, please post. Explain why you are a non-believer, explain how, explain when, do anything you want. The point is to show all these unbearably superstitious people that we do indeed have a presence on this site.

Decoding the Bible

For those who adhere to christendom, there is no other way to get to your [imaginary] heaven and eternal life with your [imaginary] god but through the Christ character and his redemptive work on the cross.  There is no ambiguity about that within christianity.  (Now I know that there are a lot of people here who's beliefs are all over the map, but this is for those who accept the above to be true).

Please explain something that I wondered about many years ago (one of the things which actually lead me to abandoning christianity):

Isn't it about time we built a bridge over the troubled waters between the sacred and the secular?

Let's begin by accepting the fact that both have much in common and are valid ways seeing and living within what we experience as reality, the now.

I'd like to communicate further that it is not just the claims of religion which I do not accept, but all supernatural claims.  Richard Dawkins has made a two-part film called "The Enemies of Reason" which can be viewed on-line.  Here's part one:
