Norval Intentional Community seeks 4 young adults aged 19-30 to live in intentional community in the village of Norval, ON for 8-10 months, beginning in September 2013.
This is a new ministry of Norval United Church. During their time in Norval, intentional community members will explore spiritual pratices, ministry leadership, community service and community living. Participants will also operate an independent movie theatre and embark on a Bruce Trail eco pilgrimage.
United Church of Canada Moderator Mardi Tindal contributes to this article on "the Jesus Year" as a young adult spiritual phenomena: “Those in their 30s now, as Douglas Coupland said, are the first generation to be raised without religion,” Tindal explains. “If they turn to Jesus, it wouldn't surprise me. He was a model for living a life of transcendence...."

Hi all. I"ve been away for a bit but when I heard that RIck Garland, the national staff person for Youth and Young Adult ministry was cut this week, I wanted to check in here. There is an ongoing discussion and strategizing on a FB group - United Church of Canada Response to YAYA Cuts. FYI.
Hi Everyone!
Our youth group leadership team is trying to seek out a good (and less expensive) retreat centre for our fall and winter retreats this year. We have used Edgewood and Ganadoweh in the past, but unfortunately Ganadoweh is closed and Edgewood is getting a little pricey for our wallets.
We're located in Oakville, Ontario and ideally, we'd like to keep the commute to 1-1.5 hrs so that gas isn't too expensive (and we're likely to have parent volunteer drivers!).
Can anyone suggest any nearby locations we could look into?
Thanks!
Last weekend, as Manitobans commemorated the life of Louis Riel, I joined a youth gathering (named Zeebu) in Portage la Prairie and sang a fair bit of Our Lady Peace.
Their song “Innocent,” for example, with its compelling line “But it all seems so contagious, not to be yourself and faceless.” With over 80 inspiring United Church young adult leaders and youth helping one another be themselves, I saw powerful inoculation against “contagious facelessness.”
